Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
I do my best to make the whole process as easy as possible. Send me a scratch track to record to, and I’ll work out a drum part. Then, I’ll send the multi-tracks back to you. Of course, if you have any questions at any point, I’m always available to talk!
What should I send you to ensure the best result?
At the very least, record your scratch track with a click. If you have a programmed drum part for reference, you can include it as a separate audio file. You may also want to include any ideas about the drum part, especially if there are specific drummers or grooves you want me to reference.
What kind of gear do you use?
I have many different drum sets, snare drums, cymbals, and microphones to choose from, each with unique tones and applications. Check out my gear page for more details.
How much does it cost?
My base rate is $150 per song. Discounts may be available for larger projects.
How much input can I give?
Feel free to give as much input as you wish. After all, these are your songs! I enjoy the collaborative process, so any suggestions you have — from drum tuning to mic placement—are welcome.
Can you record percussion in addition to drums?
Absolutely, and at no additional charge! I have shakers, tambourines, and a bunch of other fun-sounding percussion toys. However, if your track needs more comprehensive percussion, like congas or timpani, I can refer you to some of my percussionist friends who can assist in that department.
How long will it take?
My gear is always assembled and ready to record, so I can usually turn around your drum tracks in less than a week (depending on how many songs we need to do in a single session).
What if I’m not 100% satisfied with the drum part?
I take great pride in ensuring my clients are happy with my performance. I can do up to three revisions to guarantee we get that magic take.
How many tracks will you be sending?
It varies from project to project, but it's usually between eight and fifteen audio tracks per song. I will deliver these tracks to you via WeTransfer.
